A FOREIGNER IN NEW YORK REVIEW:

 INTRODUCTION:

     Antonio is a Spanish young who likes travelling and has always wanted to see New  York. A Foreigner in New York tells how he finally gets the chance to go and made ​​two visits to the city. Ypu can read about his impressions about some tourist routes, famous places and other matters, and also about his interesting group of friends. Reading the book offers a fascinating insight into this city known throughout the world, their history and way of life, from hot dogs to baseball games. Do not be surprised if after reading it you feel like taking the first flight to New York!

CHARACTERS:

In this book appears diferents characters, which are protagonists and secondary characters:

1- MAIN CHARACTERS:

   - Antonio: He is the main character. He is a young boy that likes travelling around the world. He studied journalism and English at the salamanca universitiy and now he is working for a travel magazine, where he writes different articles about his travels and his most successful adventures. 

 Last year, we got to know him in his trip to Britain and this year he will be travelling to New York, where he will visit many places and learn about this country. In the book Antonio makes two trips to New York, in winter and in summer.

Antonio wanted to go to New York because his father born there and he was very interested in the father´s city. In his first trip to New York he stayed at Jason´s house -Antonio met Jason in his University and they became very good friends-. In this first trip he met many friends, of whom he met a girl called Elaine (Antonio fell in love her). Besides meeting people, he visited many important places of the city of New York, both in his firs trip as in the second trip.

   - Jason: He is a main character of the book. Jason is a young boy who studied at Salamanca´s University with Antonio. He studied theatre and he finished his studies in Boston University, therefore Antonio didn´t see to his friend Jason until his trip to New York. Jason lived in an apartment and he is looking for work as an actor, but he isn´t find it, so he works as a waiter in a restaurant. Finally he gets acting in a Broadway.

Jason and Antonio are very friends because both have common interests, for example the magical and special  city that appeared in Woody Allen's movies and they loved travelling around the world.

   

   - Elaine: She is another main character of the book. She is a young girl who was studying at New York University and was finishing her doctoral thesis on the history of New York City -Antonio say that she looked just like Nicole Kidman-, she is blonde, beautufil and very friendly and sympathetic. While she is finishing his career, she works as a waiter in the same restaurant that Jason, they are very friends too. Nicole is the person wno explains to Antonio the differents places to New York, because she knows a lot about the history of New York. For example she explains to him the history of Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building. Along the history she becomes in the person most important for Antonio.

2-SECONDARY CHARACTERS:

- George:  He is a secondary character who was from New York and worked as the chief editor of the arts and leisure section for The New york times, the city's most prestigious newspaper. 

   - Peter: He is an other secundary character and he is a Hawaiian friend of Jason, who was a ballet dancer. Antonio met him in the Thanksgiving dinner that Jason and Elaine made  with a group of friends who can´t be with their families at that time.

   - Lin: He is secondary character and Peter´s father. He owned a store in Chinatown. When Peter moved to New York from Honolulu, Lin let him stay in his home until he found an apartment. They became very close and Peter got to know the neighbourhood well. 

  

   - Elise: She is a secondary characters and she is Elaine´s roomate. She is the person who played the piano on New Year's party. At this party Antonio attended with Elaine and Jason a other friends of them.

 

  - Scott: He is a secundary character and he is Elise´s boyfriend. Scott is a fashion photographer and at abd art gallery in SoHo he had

an exhibition of some os bis more artistic photographs. 

- José Luis: He is a secondary character and he is a Spanish sports journalist. Antonio met him in the Thanksgiving dinner. Antonio went with José Luis at the Yankee Stadium and he explained him the history of Yankee Stadium and they watched a game  against the Cleveland Indians. 

OPINION:

I didn’t like it because it talks about the same things all the time.
